Moles and skin lesions can be unsightly and make people feel self-conscious, especially when they’re on exposed parts of the body or face. Luckily, there are now non-invasive treatments available for patients looking for cosmetic mole removal. Our medical-led clinic in Leamington Spa offers a range of cosmetic skin lesion removal treatments.

Moles can appear at birth or over time as you age. Normally most moles are harmless. The treatments we offer are based on years of excellent results and we only use the safest machines to remove moles. Patients may want to remove a mole because they find it is in the way when shaving or getting dressed. Most commonly for cosmetic reasons.

We are using cutting edge technologies from DEKA lasers, the Smartxide Touch. Present in more than 120 countries, DEKA has always been an epicentre of innovation for the entire global medical sector: unprecedented applications and systems for medicine, surgery and aesthetic dermatology.

The SmartXide Touch laser device destroys the mole from the inside, through a process called thermolysis (vaporization). This action stimulates the production of new collagen, which helps with a faster healing process and rejuvenated, new skin. The CO2 laser mole removal procedure is non-surgical, minimally invasive and painless.

Normally, side effects and scarring is minimal and procedures can be carried out on the same day of assessment.

As well as moles, our Doctor can also remove other lesions too. Including small cysts, fibromas, keratosis, xanthelsama, DPN, warts, sun damage, verruca’s and skin tags.

Prior to treatment we will numb the area with a very small lidocaine injection. The laser targets the lesion without any bleeding, minimising the risk of infection. The laser is able to target the lesion only, without affecting nearby healthy tissue. We apply antibiotic ointment and a plaster following treatment. Patients can help the healing process by letting air get to the area from the second day.

After the procedure, depending on the area and how big the mole is, it can take 1-2 days for a scab to form. The scab will peel off after around 7 days.

Your skin may look a little pink after treatment which may remain for a few weeks, however a lot better than having a mole on the area. Please ensure you apply sun protection on the area for 3 months if the treatment has been carried out on an exposed area, like the face, arms or lower legs.

If needed, patients are offered to attend the clinic for a scar management appointment within the first 3 months of treatment free of charge to ensure no scars are left behind. Usually most patients are happy after the first treatment.

Prior to treatment, our Doctor thoroughly checks the mole in question to ensure it is not suspicious and cause for further investigation by your GP. If you suspect a mole is cancerous, please visit your GP for a check-up as soon as possible. If your GP advises that your mole will need a biopsy and removal, you will require surgical removal. You can use this image as a guide.

If our doctor identifies your lesion as suspicious and unsuitable for the CO2 laser procedure, we will refer you back to your GP and advise surgical removal for your lesion and a biopsy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Treating moles and other skin lesions after they have been properly assessed is a simple and quick procedure. The CO2 laser vaporizes water within the lesion being treated, resulting in immediate ablation. The ablated lesion is gently wiped away using sterile gauze, leaving minimal scarring of the underlying skin, giving a good aesthetic result. The therapy itself is simple, fast and accurate. The treatment is generally considered painless although some slight discomfort may be felt for a very short period.

Patients should avoid hot baths, swimming pools, saunas and hot tubs after treatment for 7-10 days. Patients are strongly advised to apply SPF 50 to the area for the next 3 months.

Treatments are very simple and quick so you do not need to prepare for the procedure in any way. If you are nervous, please try to relax prior to treatment. If your mole is close to the mouth, please eat and drink before as there will be some numbing after treatment.

All moles and lesions are treatable with the CO2 Laser, providing they are not suspicious.

The CO2 laser is able to remove raised moles as long as they are less than 5mm in diameter.

Yes, mole removal is suitable for those with darker skin.

As with any aesthetic, surgical or laser procedure, there is a small risk of hyperpigmentation or hipo-pigmentation, meaning the skin appears darker or lighter in the area being treated. Scarring is also possible but rare. Risks are minimized by using appropriate and high quality equipment. If scarring occurs, Eve Clinics specialize in scar removal too and patients are welcomed for treatment 8-10 weeks after the initial procedure if needed. Please see the skin resurfacing (scar management) page here.

Patients choosing to remove their mole with the CO2 laser avoid the surgical risks and are able to enjoy the fastest recovery time. Having a quick recovery time and minimum risks involved, our laser gives you the best cosmetic result, which is massively important if the mole is present on your face.

We have a very experienced surgeon who is able to assess your mole prior to treatment. Dr Richard Viney has over 20 years of experience with lasers. We are able to remove your lesion along with the roots. Most other clinics prefer only to shave the lesions as it provides less risk of scaring but increased risk of returning. Eve Clinics is also able to offer free revision in the first 3 months if needed and invests in only the best devices.

There is always a risk for later recurrence and we can’t offer you a lifetime guarantee. We can reassure you that your results are long term.

Moles with hair growing inside can be removed, however the hair is likely to grow back. This is because the CO2 laser only targets the skin and not the hair follicle.
