Treatment Benefits
Moles and skin lesions can be unsightly and make people feel self-conscious, especially when they’re on exposed parts of the body or face. Luckily, there are now non-invasive treatments available for patients looking for cosmetic mole removal. Our medical-led clinic in Leamington Spa offers a range of cosmetic skin lesion removal treatments.
Moles can appear at birth or over time as you age. Normally most moles are harmless. The treatments we offer are based on years of excellent results and we only use the safest machines to remove moles. Patients may want to remove a mole because they find it is in the way when shaving or getting dressed. Most commonly for cosmetic reasons.
We are using cutting edge technologies from DEKA lasers, the Smartxide Touch. Present in more than 120 countries, DEKA has always been an epicentre of innovation for the entire global medical sector: unprecedented applications and systems for medicine, surgery and aesthetic dermatology.
The SmartXide Touch laser device destroys the mole from the inside, through a process called thermolysis (vaporization). This action stimulates the production of new collagen, which helps with a faster healing process and rejuvenated, new skin. The CO2 laser mole removal procedure is non-surgical, minimally invasive and painless.
Normally, side effects and scarring is minimal and procedures can be carried out on the same day of assessment.
As well as moles, our Doctor can also remove other lesions too. Including small cysts, fibromas, keratosis, xanthelsama, DPN, warts, sun damage, verruca’s and skin tags.
Prior to treatment we will numb the area with a very small lidocaine injection. The laser targets the lesion without any bleeding, minimising the risk of infection. The laser is able to target the lesion only, without affecting nearby healthy tissue. We apply antibiotic ointment and a plaster following treatment. Patients can help the healing process by letting air get to the area from the second day.
After the procedure, depending on the area and how big the mole is, it can take 1-2 days for a scab to form. The scab will peel off after around 7 days.
Your skin may look a little pink after treatment which may remain for a few weeks, however a lot better than having a mole on the area. Please ensure you apply sun protection on the area for 3 months if the treatment has been carried out on an exposed area, like the face, arms or lower legs.
If needed, patients are offered to attend the clinic for a scar management appointment within the first 3 months of treatment free of charge to ensure no scars are left behind. Usually most patients are happy after the first treatment.
Prior to treatment, our Doctor thoroughly checks the mole in question to ensure it is not suspicious and cause for further investigation by your GP. If you suspect a mole is cancerous, please visit your GP for a check-up as soon as possible. If your GP advises that your mole will need a biopsy and removal, you will require surgical removal. You can use this image as a guide.
If our doctor identifies your lesion as suspicious and unsuitable for the CO2 laser procedure, we will refer you back to your GP and advise surgical removal for your lesion and a biopsy.
