Typically patients require 6-8 sessions to see the desired results. Occasionally we suggest more sessions depending on the area treated, skin type and hair type, also when medical conditions like PCOS are involved. During your consultation, after the assessment and patch test, the laser specialist will advise the ideal number of sessions and if maintenance is required. This is so the patient has an understanding about the time and money invested for short and long term.

The Candela Gentle Max Pro is one of the most advanced, safe, and effective technology advancements in the laser hair removal field, allowing permanent hair reduction on a number of areas, including the arms, face, legs, chest and feet. The laser is also very safe for intimate areas too.

In the past, those with a darker skin type were restricted with hair removal. Luckily, this is now a problem of the past. All skin and hair types can see effective results from our hair removal treatment. Even those with medical conditions like PCOS that cause rapid hair growth are suitable for treatment. In fact, we see many patients with this condition and find it gives improved self-confidence and also a long term or permanent alternative. Our laser specialists first start by offering you a face to face consultation at the clinic. During this medical consultation we will take a full medical history and get to know your treatment goals and concerns. We also offer a patch test to ensure your skin is suitable for treatment. Only when you’re happy, our laser specialist will prepare you for treatment. A couple of days before your treatment we ask you to shave the area being targeted. Unlike waxing and other hair removal methods, we do not require a lot of hair present to carry out treatment.

Laser Hair Removal Treatment

During the laser hair removal treatment, the laser targets the hair follicle with intense laser light energy for thermal destruction to provide permanent hair reduction. For your comfort, we have opted for the laser to contain the most advanced Zimmer Cryo 6 which is installed into the laser from manufacturing. The cooling system cools down the skin before each laser pulse with a cooling burst of cryogen over the treatment area. Whilst the treatment is no painful, you will experience some mild discomfort that has been likened to somebody flicking a hot rubber band at you repeatedly, this is very well tolerated by most of our patients.

Patients require around 6-8 sessions of laser hair removal for best results, as we want to minimise the chances of hair regrowth. After treatment, our laser specialist will provide you with the necessary aftercare information and some suggestions on the best skincare to use.

Depending on your skin type, we will select the correct applicator. The 1064nm Nd:YAG laser is for patients with darker skin. This promotes safe and effective results and limits the risk of hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation.

We have selected the Candela GentleMax Pro because of the continued safe and effective results it offers as well as resources that have gone into development of the machine. If you had a minimum 6 months gap since your last treatment, or you are looking to book a maintenance treatment, you need a new patch test.

Prior to treatment, all patients will have a patch test to assess their suitability for treatment. A couple of days prior to treatment, patients are asked to shave the area in question (please do not wax, tweeze or bleach the area). The Candela GentleMax Pro is suitable for all skin types. Previously, individuals with darker skin were not able to see effective results from laser hair removal. Our laser has dual wavelength options. Generally patients with more coarse and dark hair will need fewer sessions.

You should avoid the sun for a couple of weeks and apply SPF 50 for up to 3 months if the area treated is not covered. You should always apply SPF on the face.

Patients should wait at least 4 weeks after returning from a summer/sunny holiday.

Patients should use cooling and calming gel, aloe Vera gel or Hypericum gel available at Eve Clinics. Our laser specialists can advise you on the best skincare to use for your individual skin type.

Patients should avoid hot baths, swimming pools, saunas and hot tubs for 3-5 days after treatment. You can shower as normal a couple of hours after treatment.

Patients should wait 4-6 weeks for face, 6-8 weeks for legs and 8-10 weeks for arms, underarms and bikini in-between sessions and even longer after the third session because hair growth is very slow.

NO, the hair tip needs to be showing on the skin. Otherwise there is no conductor of the energy of the laser up to the root of the hair. The area needs to be shaved 2-3 days prior the treatment. During your consultation, our laser specialist will advise you what you need to do to prepare for treatment.

Not at all, the hair is less and less course and with each session, it reduces the regrowth cycle.

Most of the time, yes, laser hair removal is a permanent solution to hair growth. Although there is no guarantee, patients may require maintenance sessions every 2-3 years. In our experience of more than 20 years, we find the areas where hair was very fine is more susceptible to hair regrowth. Also, strong medication or hormonal changes can stimulate the hair growth but patients usually require only maintenance and not full treatments.

It may not always be permanent but definitely it is a long term solution for your hair removal. Also, hair is not likely to come back the same as before, there will be a significantly reduction in the number of the follicles, thickness and colour. If maintenance is requested, one session will be enough to calm down the hair again for a long period of time.
