Intimate lightening of the skin is a popular treatment and is our signature procedure at our Leamington Spa clinic. We use the CO2 laser to carefully remove the layer of darker skin to restore your normal skin tone. Many individuals experience darkening of the skin surrounding their intimate area as they age or due to a hormonal imbalance and luckily our non-surgical, non-invasive procedure can reverse this with minimal downtime and excellent cosmetic results. You’ll be attended to by a female practitioner and be at ease throughout the entire treatment process.

Treatment Benefits
Intimate lightening is a procedure carried out at our Leamington Spa clinic to rejuvenate unattractive and unwanted skin that has darkened over time. Lightening of the skin creates a more even skin tone and eliminates dark patches. There are many causes of this darkening effect, including, but not limited to, the natural ageing process, hormones, bacterial infections, genetics, childbirth, repeated shaving, waxing and repeated bleaching. Some also report experiencing darkening of the skin following choosing a wrong laser hair removal treatment close to the intimate area.
It is important to note that this is a natural effect of the ageing process. However, many feel uncomfortable because of this darkening. Dark tissue can appear unsightly and lead to insecurities and relationship problems. Dark patches around the intimate area may lead you to avoid sexual intercourse. Our skin lightening treatment is suitable for the anus, the skin around the anus, and vaginal area. Unfortunately the laser can’t be used on the inner thighs, underarms, elbow, and knees – for those areas we have different protocols to help you.
The CO2 laser works to enhance the skin’s overall appearance on the intimate and sensitive areas by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, promoting new tissue to form. All skin types are suitable for treatment with the number of sessions required depending on this. Skin types 3-6 require around 3 sessions and skin types 1-3 sometimes only require 1 or 2 sessions. Although how large the area is does not affect the treatment time. Following your treatment course, you’ll have healthier, younger looking skin. The procedure not only lightens the labia majora but works to tighten along with skin resurfacing.
Non-surgical skin lightening offers excellent cosmetic results with minimal downtime and discomfort. During treatment the laser works to repair damaged skin and remove the darker patches. The laser targets pigmentation by destroying the outer layers of the skin and stimulating cell turnover. The recovery time for a CO2 laser treatment is generally about 1 week for total skin resurfacing. Due to the intimate treatment, we have to take extra care to avoid infection or discomfort so use the very best medical grade lasers. The CO2 laser is very suitable for the intimate area.
Initially, all patients will attend a medical consultation and assessment with our female laser practitioner or doctor. During your appointment, we will take a full medical history, provide a patch test and assess the area of concern. We’ll be able to answer any questions you have and put you at ease. Our laser practitioner will also be able to provide an accurate quote and suggest the number of sessions required for optimal results. A patch test is always provided to ensure you respond well to the laser and vastly minimises the chance of hyperpigmentation.
Your first visit is extremely important as we can let you know after your assessment if you are a good candidate or not for this procedure and if it is worth carrying on the treatment using the laser.
Very stubborn pigmentation needs to be treated with injectables by our doctor.
Once we begin treatment, a lidocaine numbing cream will be applied to the area to ensure your comfort. The procedure is mildly painful and feels like elastic bands on the skin. The treatment time is approximately 20 minutes. We’ll need to allow up to 30 minutes prior to proceeding with the laser for the numbing cream to take effect. As the laser glides across your skin, collagen production is stimulated. Because the laser sterilises the skin, you will not see any blood.
Following treatment, your skin will appear red and a little sore. We’ll give you the best aftercare advice and suggest the best cream to use. Typically the redness will subside after a few days and you’ll start to heal. You may experience some itching as the skin heals too.
There are many intimate lightening creams and lotions on the market but we advise you to avoid these. Our intimate lightening treatment offers long term results with few risks involved. Some of the creams can actually cause further damage to your skin or discomfort. We only use the very best equipment provided by DEKA. The medical laser company is backed by decades of research and clinical studies. They are very well known for enhanced patient safety and satisfaction.
