Scars are a natural part of the body’s healing process, resulting from the repair of damaged skin tissue. Various factors contribute to the formation of scars, including trauma, inflammation, and surgical procedures. While scars are unavoidable, our advanced laser technology can significantly minimise their appearance. Scar reduction in London is now available at Eve Clinic’s Harley Street location.
Types of Scarring
- Acne Scar Removal: Acne scars often develop as a result of severe acne lesions, causing damage to the skin’s deeper layers. The DEKA SmartXide Touch CO2 laser targets the affected areas, promoting collagen remodeling and reducing the appearance of acne scars. These can include acne scars on the face, back and arms to name a few areas.
- Plastic Surgery Scar Removal: Surgical procedures, while necessary for aesthetic enhancement, can leave visible scars. Our laser treatment helps diminish scars from plastic surgery by stimulating collagen production and improving skin texture. Scar reduction following breast enlargement or reduction is popular at our London clinic. We can also treat scars left behind after procedures like the tummy tuck, facelift and fat reduction.
- Hair Transplant Scar Removal: FUT is a highly effective hair restoration technique involving the extraction of a strip of hair-bearing scalp from the donor area. While FUT provides excellent results in terms of hair growth, it leaves a linear scar at the back of the scalp. The appearance of this scar can be a significant consideration for patients, especially those who prefer shorter hairstyles. At Eve Clinics, we employ the innovative CO2 laser for scar removal after FUT hair transplant. This advanced laser system targets the scar tissue, stimulating collagen production, and promoting the regeneration of healthier skin cells. The precision of the CO2 laser allows for targeted treatment, minimising damage to surrounding tissues and ensuring a more comfortable recovery process. The hair transplant result is not affected by the laser.
- Self-Harming Scar Removal: Scars from self-harm incidents can be emotionally challenging. The DEKA SmartXide Touch CO2 laser aids in the healing process by minimising the appearance of self-harming scars, promoting skin rejuvenation.
DEKA SmartXide Touch CO2 Laser Treatment: Our clinic utilises the DEKA SmartXide Touch CO2 laser, a revolutionary technology that delivers fractional laser energy to targeted areas of the skin. This precise approach minimises downtime and discomfort while maximising results.
Scar Removal Procedure
- Consultation: Our experienced medical professionals will conduct a thorough assessment of your scars, discussing your concerns and expectations. A personalised treatment plan will be tailored to address your unique needs. During your consultation, we will take a full medical history, conduct a patch test to ensure the laser is suitable for you, and provide more details on the number of sessions needed.
- Laser Treatment: The DEKA SmartXide Touch CO2 laser is applied to the scarred areas, promoting collagen production and triggering the body’s natural healing response. The fractional laser technology ensures minimal disruption to surrounding healthy skin. The laser gently glides over the affected skin.
- Recovery: While individual experiences may vary, most patients can resume their normal activities shortly after the treatment. Mild redness or swelling may occur initially, but these effects are temporary and subside within a few days. Although very rare, there are some other risks like hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation following treatment. We can discuss these during your consultation.
- Combined protocol with CO2 laser:
Raised/hypertrophic or keloid scars may need to be addressed with steroid injections to reduce the inflammation.
Pigmented scars may need to be addressed with melanin inhibitors
Fresh scars may need to be treated with polynucleotides, Exosomes or PRP. However, our advice is to wait 6 months for the scar to mature before deciding on treatment.
Indented scars can be improved by adding volume underneath with dermal filler.
Whatever the protocol decided is, you may need multiple sessions for an optimum result, with a 6-12 weeks gap in between. We may not be able to remove the scar completely, but aim to improve it considerably. The results are long term or lifetime and very much depend on one individual to another.
Contraindications:
Sun exposure for up to 3 months
Pregnancy
Breastfeeding
Skin cancer history

The number of sessions needed varies based on the type and severity of the scars. During the consultation, our medical professionals will assess your specific case and provide a personalised treatment plan, including the estimated number of sessions required.
Most of the time, scars can be successfully removed within 3 sessions. Occasionally, depending on the skin type, you may require additional sessions and we can’t guarantee total removal but a very good improvement.
If the scar is very deep, and the patient wishes to have perfect skin, the quickest treatment is to fill it with the dermal filler. This would give instant results and will keep the scar hydrated. Unfortunately, is a temporary fix and needs to be redone after 12-18 months.
As with any cosmetic, aesthetic, surgical or laser procedure, there are risks. These include hyperpigmentation, where the skin appears darker in the area being treated. We advise the use of melanin inhibitors prior to and after the procedure to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation.
There is also a risk of hypopigmentation in all skin types and especially in African skin type. Scarring is also possible but rare. Risks are minimised by using appropriate and medical high quality equipment, like the Deka laser and the correct protocol for skin and scar type.
Cortisone, can create a temporary or extremely rare hypo or hyper pigmentation on the area treated.
A Patch test is required prior to the procedure to ensure patient safety.
We always advise to drink plenty of liquids, hydrate your skin daily and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
If you can arrive at the clinic without make up, this will be much appreciated. Alternatively, we can help you to remove the make up at the clinic.

Most of the clinics use Dermapen, or fraxel 1550nn laser to treat scars. This will benefit only the superficial part of the skin. At Eve Clinics, we combine CO2 laser fractional and ablative 10600nn, this allows us to treat very deep scars and stimulate the fibroblast and collagen.
Occasionally we can combine alternative sessions with Deka CO2 ablative laser and/or Candela vascular laser, these lasers work in synergic to improve not only the scar tissue but the red colour of the scar as well or the broken capillaries.
